The new Blues boss was officially unveiled to the media at St Andrews and gave an in depth interview with us ahead of the new season
Above all else, Lee Clark can’t wait to get started at what he describes as an exciting challenge. Despite issues off the field, he is firmly eyeing a challenge for promotion next season:
“I’m very ambitious, I want to be competing at the top part of the table. I look at the squad, its got great balance between experience and youth so everything is positive and I’m really looking forward to the job in hand”
After the sale of young midfielder Jordan Mutch to Cardiff last week, many Blues fans became worried that other players such as, Nathan Redmond, Jordan Mutch and Curtis Davies could follow. Clark was quick to put the fans at ease: “I’m confident that they’ll be starting the season with Birmingham City. There’s the possibility of one or two players going but certainly those lads, we want to build the team around.
Clark says he’s “very clear” about the state the club is in and what he has to work with. He’s already in talks with potential new signings in anticipation of the club’s transfer embargo being lifted. New contracts have been offered to defender Steven Carr and goalkeeper Colin Doyle.
