More than a billion pounds could be paid to people living near the high speed line from London to Birmingham.
The government has confirmed it will offer to buy any home which is within 1 hundred and 20 metres of the route.
The route goes from London to Birmingham, passing places like Kenilworth and Burton Green in Warwickshire.
This means anyone in that area will be paid, even if the house doesn’t actually need to be demolished.
Anyone who lives within 60 metres will also get an extra 10 percent compensation – up to 47 thousand pounds.
Liz Hurst from HS2 Ltd said: “The idea was to be generous with this package. We understand this is an emoitonal subject.”
She told Free Radio the total amount paid out could be around one billion pounds.
