A 20-year-old man has died after being found unconscious at V Festival in Staffordshire.
A security guard was called to a tent at Weston Park at around 1am and found a man not breathing.
He was given first aid but the on-site doctor could not save him.
The immediate location was sealed off whilst a detailed forensic examination of the scene was done.
Police have spoken to his friends but his death is being treated as unexplained. A post-mortem exam is yet to be carried-out.
Chief Inspector Carl Ratcliffe, who was in command of the Staffordshire Police operation at the site overnight, gave his reaction:
“We are very saddened by the tragic death of this young man and we are working to establish the full facts and build a picture of his actions in the few hours before his death.
“We will be preparing a report for Her Majesty’s Coroner who has already been informed about this incident and we are working to support those affected by this incident.”
Staffordshire Police are in contact with the man’s immediate family but say they won’t confirm his name until all family members have been contacted.
A spokesman for V-Festival said:
“We are all very saddened by this tragic incident, and we want to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of this young man.
“Our team worked throughout the night to support those affected at the Festival site and we want to thank everyone for their cooperation and support during the incident.”
